- Dr. Andrew J. Trontis is a fellowship-trained Orthopedic Spine Surgeon and New Jersey native. He received his bachelor’s degree in from Moravian University in Bethlehem, PA, and went on to earn his master’s degree and medical doctorate from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphaia, PA. Dr. Trontis completed his orthopedic surgery residency at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, MD.
Following residency, Dr. Trontis completed the prestigious Spinal Surgery Fellowship Program at Cedars-Sinai Spine Center in Los Angeles, California – a combined orthopaedic & neurosurgical spine surgery fellowship that provides comprehensive training in adult and adolescent spinal disorders. He had additional training in orthopaedic traumatology at the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at University of Maryland Medical Center and pediatric orthopaedics at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center.
Dr. Trontis has extensive training in minimally invasive surgery, cervical and lumbar disc arthroplasty, motion preservation technology, and both navigation-guided and robotic-assisted spinal surgery to treat degenerative spinal disorders, spinal deformity and spinal trauma.
Dr. Trontis is a reviewer for The Spine Journal, reviewing research papers on the topic of spine surgery prior to publication. He is also a member of the North American Spine Society and is currently serving on the National Committee for reviewing and distributing research grant money internationally. He is also a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and Scoliosis Research Society.
