  • Andrew T. Nadell, MD, is a psychiatry specialist based in Burlingame, CA. He graduated from Duke University School of Medicine in 1974, and holds a Master of Arts in social psychology from Columbia University, and a Master of Science in medical sociology from the University of London. He was an honorary clinical assistant at the Middlesex Hospital Medical School in London in 1976, and completed a residency at the University of California Davis in 1977. He was a member of the clinical faculty at Stanford University School of Medicine from 1980 to 1992. He served as Chairman of Psychiatry at Mills-Peninsula Medical Center for four years. Dr. Nadell was physician member of the Commission on Mental Illness of the Episcopal Diocese of California from 2006 to 2012. He is a liveryman of the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries of London.

    In addition he has a long-standing interest in the history of medicine. He has served as the National Delegate of the United States to the International Society for the History of Medicine since 2011, and as Vice-President since 2024. He is a governor of the American Osler Society. He has given invited lectures on the history of the profession of medicine in numerous countries.

    His works with patients suffering from anxiety disorders, depression and other mood disorders, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia, as well as the psychological problems associated with serious medical illness and old age.
