Summary
- Dr. Andrew Q. Giap is the Chief of the Department of Gastroenterology in Kaiser Permanente Orange County and Southern California Regional Gastroenterology Chief, SCPMG. Dr. Giap developed the first Endoscopic Ultrasound, Biliary and Advanced Endoscopy program in Kaiser Permanente in 2003 serving as a Center of Excellence and tertiary referral center for the Southern California Permanente Medical Group providing care to 4.9 million patients. He has numerous publications in endoscopic ultrasound and advanced endoscopy including pancreatic cysts, endoscopic mucosal resection, full thickness colon polyp resection and gastric cancer screening etc. Dr. Giap was selected as one of five physicians in the United States as American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) ambassadors to travel to Vietnam in 2010 and provided hands-on training in EUS, ERCP and PEG placement at Hue Central Hospital and College of Medicine and Pharmacy at Hue and Khanh Hoa Hospital in Nha Trang. He received the ASGE Crystal Award for the excellent work and elected as fellow of ASGE (FASGE) in 2011.
Dr. Giap received his medical degree (MD) at the University of California, Irvine College of Medicine in 1994. He completed his Internal Medicine residency in 1997 and Gastroenterology fellowship in 2000 at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center with training in endoscopic ultrasound and advanced endoscopy.
