Summary
- I am in a very busy private practice of 7 radiologists. We practice mostly at Boone Hospital and two other smaller sites. I practice as a general radiologist although I am the lead neurointerventionalist for our group. My hospital is a stroke center and I have worked over the years with administration to achieve and maintain our Joint Commission Primary and Missouri TCD Level 1 stroke certifications. My other IR partner took stroke call with me every other night for years in order to ensure our hospital could meet the needs of our community.
In addition, I am the lead MRI radiologist in my group. I also practice general IR about a third of the time.
I have held many leadership roles in my career. I am currently Vice Chief of Staff of Boone Hospital and slated to become Chief of Staff in January. I have been Radiology Department Chairman at Boone Hospital. I have worked closely with administration with equipment purchases, department management, billing and coding issues and practice development. I have working knowledge of Joint Commission and CMS compliance issues.
I am a member of the BJC Radiology Clinical Expert Council in St Louis. With Washington University faculty and other BJC radiologists, we develop systemwide radiology protocols, equipment purchases and policies for BJC.
In my own group, I have been heavily involved in billing and coding issues, marketing and recruiting. I wrote and designed our group website (with programming help.) As a former journalist, I am interested in marketing and community outreach. I speak routinely to health care providers in central Missouri about stroke and other radiology services.
In Little Rock, I served as Chairman of a large radiology group, about 45 radiologists. We owned and managed several outpatient imaging centers and practiced at many hospital sites. I played a key role planning, building and marketing these centers.
