Summary

  • I am a medical oncologist specializing in breast cancer with expertise in cancer survivorship and oncology informatics. Along with patient care, my research focus is to develop tools that will:
    a) increase care coordination and communication between survivors and health care providers, particularly in the post-active treatment phase
    b) decrease the effects of cancer diagnosis and treatment on work and employment

To support this mission, I have received funding from various sources including NIH, NIDDR, ICTR and investigator initiated funding. I have also published numerous manuscripts in scientific journals including the Journal of Clinical Oncology, Cancer and Journal of Oncology Practice. I am currently an Associate Editor for the Journal of Cancer Survivorship, and have served on the NCCN's Survivorship Panel and EHR Advisory Board as well as the Epic Oncology Specialty Steering Board.

Much of my research to date has focused on leveraging the EHR to facilitate 360-degree communication between health care providers (cancer and non-cancer) as well as survivors. As such, I have expertise in working with EHR analysts and software designers to develop healthcare IT (I am also an Epic-certified physician builder). Having served as the Principle Investigator for both investigator-initiated and national cooperative groups, I have experience writing grants, developing protocols and the day-to-day running of both supportive and developmental therapeutic trials. I collaborate closely with IT, Industrial and Human Factors Engineering, Nursing, Kinesiology and Primary Care.
