My name is Alyssa Barnes and I am currently a fourth year pharmacy student at the UNM College of Pharmacy with an anticipated graduation date of May 2024. I am originally from Las Cruces, NM. Over the last three years, I have held many student leadership roles including Honor Council Chair, APhA-ASP Operation Reproductive Health Co-Chair, and APhA-ASP Membership Vice President. I have also been a part of a research project evaluating vaccine hesitancy in gender expansive individuals. I am passionate about patient care, women's health, and advocating for those with low health literacy. I am interested in learning more about the role of pharmacists in women's health and MTM services. In the next year I would like to explore various career opportunities to become a more well-rounded pharmacist. When I'm not in class or on rotation I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family, friends, and two dogs.
