- Dr. Alvin H. Schmaier, M.D. is the Robert W. Kellermeyer Professor of Hematology and Oncology in Medicine and Pathology at Case Western Reserve University and University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, Cleveland OH. Previously he was a full tenured professor at Temple University and the University of Michigan. He is an elected member of the American Society of Clinical Investigation (1990), the Peripathetic Club (1991), and the Association of American Physicians (1998). He frequently serves on NIH study sections. He is an active member of the American Society of Hematology and the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis. He has a NIH funded laboratory since 1979 and has 230 publications listed on My NCBI PubMed. His research has focused on the vascular biology of factor XII and the kallikrein/kinin system and hemostasis and thrombosis. He is hematologist with a practice that is exclusively hemostasis, thrombosis, and hemophilia.
