- Alice Lorch, MD, MPH is an Instructor in Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School (HMS), and Program Director of the HMS Residency Program in Ophthalmology. Dr. Lorch graduated with a BS in Biology from Yale University and subsequently earned her MD at HMS. A graduate of the HMS Residency Program in Ophthalmology, Dr. Lorch served as Chief Resident and Director of the Trauma Service for the academic year 2014-15. After this, she accepted a position as a member of the Comprehensive Ophthalmology and Cataract Consultation Service at Massachusetts Eye and Ear while completing an MPH in Clinical Effectiveness at the Harvard School of Public Health. In July 2018 she took on the role of Chief Quality Officer for Ophthalmology. Her research interests are centered around quality and outcomes, with current projects including tele-ophthalmology for urgent ophthalmic complaints and patient-reported-outcomes (PROMs) for cataract surgery. She is also interested in resident wellness and develops educational curricula on communication skills. She is the co-PI with Dr. Joan Miller of the IRIS Registry Research group at Mass. Eye and Ear.
She is mother to three small children and enjoys yoga and visiting art galleries in her personal time.
