Summary

• I am a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc., a member Board of American Board of Medical Specialties. After completing my residency at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine in Roanoke, VA, I joined University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) for an additional year of fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry. I have worked in a variety of different settings including both academia and community based inpatient and outpatient settings. Moreover, I have been investing on different techniques of psychotherapy during my residency, fellowship, and after completion of my training. Although I have used successfully cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in many patients but currently the focus of my psychotherapy is using intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy (ISTDP) which has shown to be one of the most effective psychotherapy modalities in a variety of patients. Also, as a psychiatrist, I believe that prescribing medications needs to be considered for many conditions in the realm of mental health. However, especially for older adults using medications will be done very cautiously to avoid side effects. As a geriatric psychiatrist I regularly perform cognitive evaluation using certain neuropsychology testing especially in older population to be able to provide both medication management and evaluate the need for further social and family support.
