• Dr. Alexander Welge is an accomplished psychiatrist who takes a whole-body approach in supporting patients to overcome struggles with their mental health. He received his Master's in Physiology and completed his residency at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (NYC Health and Hospitals: Elmhurst).
  
  
  For the past 10 years, Dr. Welge has worked as an outpatient psychiatrist in a community-based behavioral health center, where he built lasting patient relationships.
  
  
  Prior to joining SohoMD, Dr. Welge ran a 16-bed inpatient dual diagnosis/MICA unit, overseeing their 21 day program for people struggling with chemical dependency. Recently he served as Medical Director for Drug & Alcohol Abuse Services.
  
  
  Dr. Welge empowers his patients through knowledge, working with them closely to make informed decisions about medication. He does not prescribe controlled substances, rather he helps his patients in a non-habit-forming way by balancing their chemistry, helping them come to terms with their narrative, and ultimately living their best life.
