  • Graduated Magna cum laude from University of Texas at San Antonio in 2014 with a bachelors in Biology with concentration in Microbiology/Immunology, this was followed by a research year at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, he then pursued medical education at the Texas A&M School of Medicine and graduated in 2019, he continued to complete his Internal Medicine residency in 2022 at the Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, he then pursued an Infectious Diseases fellowship at the University of Texas in Houston/MD Anderson Cancer Center under the Immunocompromised Tract, where he spent 60% of his clinical months working in services including Solid tumors, Stem Cell Transplant, Lymphoma/CAR-T, and Leukemia, and the other 40% at the Memorial Hermann Hospital at the Texas Medical Center and LBJ Hospital, a county hospital of Harris County. He was named chief fellow for this academic year 2023-2024. He is currently pursuing a third year in Transplant Infectious Diseases, which combines training in solid organ transplant patients including kidney, liver, lung and heart as well as stem cell transplants, and will be graduating June 2025.

    During his fellowship he presented a poster/abstract to IDweek 2023 titled “The Impact of Vascularized Lymph Node Transplant in Reducing the Rate of Cellulitis in patients with Breast Cancer-related Lymphedema” in Boston, MA. Additionally, he was a panelist at the Texas Transplant Society 2023, and Remington Winter Conference in Infectious Disease in February 2024 in Breckenridge, CO.

    Most recently, Dr. Perez published a review article in breast implant-related infections and various entities which mimic breast infection in June 2024. Other prior publications include: a review of Mucormycosis in Solid Organ Transplant in 2022. He enjoys traveling the world, he is a very passionate international soccer fan, enjoys trying different types of food, listening to rock music and spending time with his family.
