- Alefiyah Malbari, M.D., is the Chief of the Division of Ambulatory Pediatrics for Dell Medical School and an Associate Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics and Medical Education. She oversees the development and growth of the Division with a vision to expand outpatient general pediatric services and provide a medical home for patients and families in our communities. Malbari has strong clinical, practice building and medical education expertise. expertise.
Malbari came to Austin from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, where she served as the medical director for the General Pediatric Faculty Practice as well as the course director for the Art and Science of Medicine introduction to clinical skills course in the medical school. She was significantly involved in undergraduate and graduate medical education while at Mount Sinai and was inducted as a fellow educator in the Institute of Medical Education at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in 2020. In addition to teaching, Malbari was involved in medical education scholarly research and served on several medical education committees.
In the clinical realm, Malbari is a well established and sought after general pediatrician and was named as a Top Pediatrician 2020 in New York Magazine. Recognizing her exemplary interpersonal skills and bedside manner, she was awarded the Cullman Family Award for Excellence in Physician Communication in 2016 and 2018.
