Summary

  • I am retired from the Practice of Family Medicine. During my 42 years in Family Medicine, I was involved in Private Practice for 13 years, first with my Medical Mentor Ralph Schlossman, MD in South Ozone Park, Queens (my old neighborhood) and later with two residents I met while training at Duke University, first Calvin Reams, MD in Thomasville Georgia for 9 years and later with Robert McConville, MD in Sanford North Carolina. I always felt that my main calling in medicine was to teach. I taught many students during my years in Private Practice and had the distinct honor and privilege to help train almost 200 Family Medicine Residents during my 29 years of residency education training. I currently practice hospice medicine in Wilmington North Carolina, working about one weekend per month. I live on a beach on Topsail Island with my wife of 27 years, Kim Woodard Meyer, a retired PA-C. We enjoy beachcombing, bike riding, loving our family and conservation efforts. Life is good but it would have been impossible without the excellent training I received at Downstate and the great faith which was a gift from my family of origin. Thank you!
