Summary
- I was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. I played soccer throughout my childhood and was recruited to play at UCLA. In my final season at UCLA, I was a member of the 2013 NCAA Division National Championship Team, which was the 110th NCAA national title for UCLA and the 1st for the women’s soccer program. I then went across town to go to medical school at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. Upon my graduation from medical school, I received the American Medical Women’s Association Janet M. Glasgow Achievement Certificate, presented to women who graduate in the top 10% of their class. I then continued to travel east to attend Yale University for my orthopaedic residency. During my residency training, I created and am currently the host of the She Can Fix It Podcast - a podcast that highlights and empowers the women of orthopaedic surgery. I also created and was the host of the first season of the Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic Society (RJOS) podcast. I was also a producer of the 2nd season of the RJOS podcast. Following my residency education, I traveled to Houston, Texas to complete a one-year Musculoskeletal Oncology fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. After completing my fellowship at MD Anderson, I traveled back to Los Angeles and an am currently an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Division of Orthopedics in the Department of Surgery at City of Hope. I have numerous publications and am active in research in the realm of musculoskeletal oncology as well as diversity, equity, and inclusion within the field of orthopaedic surgery.
