- In an academic private practice for over 25 years, Dr Reznik specializes in arthroscopic techniques for repair and restoration of orthopedic injuries. Dr Reznik has served on the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons communications cabinet, the national patient safety committee and the committee on quality and research. He is a current member of the editorial board of AAOS Now. Author of two books, he writes articles for web sites, newsletters, and patient magazines. He has lectured and written articles on AI applications in medicine. He consults for companies exploring AI in medicine.
Alan Reznik, M.D. uses advanced techniques for knee ligament reconstruction and arthroscopic shoulder and knee repair. He performs minimally ligament and cartilage repairs, innovative suture techniques for arthroscopic rotator cuff repair and MASI grafting for cartilage defects in the knee. He currently holds seven patents, his surgical inventions are designed to improve the effectiveness of arthroscopic surgery.
Volunteer Medical missions:New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005, Cuba on a humanitarian mission and Bolivia to see first-hand the role of "Save the Children," in the poorest-of-poor countries in South America. Dr. Reznik has traveled to Haiti and Bolivia to preformed surgeries on both children and adults in need of orthopedic care.
Inventions and Patents: His patents include the Universal Shoulder Positioner, fluid flow control for arthroscopic surgery, cannulas and internet search enhancements. He has patents pending on surgical instruments, novel suture anchors. His arthroscopic suture grasper is being marketed by Johnson and Johnson and his arm positioning device is being manufactured by Innovative Medical Products. The other inventions are in varying stages of development.
He enjoys treating orthopedic conditions and injuries in all patients including recreational, working and professional athletes of all ages.
