Following a long career in clinical medicine and healthcare administration, he founded Protoqual to support physicians with technology solutions that promote lifelong learning and positive patient experience.
After 25 years practicing gastroenterology in Southern California, Dr. Altman transitioned to healthcare administration, serving as medical director for both local and national healthcare organizations. As Medical Director of Quality Assurance for Empire Physician’s Medical Group, he directed quality improvement for an independent physician association of more than 350 providers. The organization's parent companies include NAMM California, Optum, and United HealthCare.
Dr. Altman is a longstanding member of the Board of Directors of the Annenberg Center for Health Sciences. Connecting medical education with improvement in healthcare quality is his passion. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Columbia University, a Medical Degree from New York Medical College, and a Master’s Degree in Administrative Medicine from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
