He then attended the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai where he graduated in the top quartile with a distinction in research and was awarded the prestigious Dr. Arthur H. Aufses Sr. Prize in Surgery. Dr. Rao continued his training at Mount Sinai where he completed his residency in the integrated vascular surgery program.

Additionally, he holds memberships in multiple regional and national vascular societies. His research focus includes lower extremity limb salvage and treatments for aortic aneurysms.
