Ahmed Salem, MD, is a Medical Intensivist and Neurointensivist based in Birmingham, Alabama. He completed his internal medicine residency and chief residency at MedStar Health/Harbor Hospital, followed by fellowships in neurocritical care and critical care medicine at multiple institutions, including Baylor College of Medicine in Houston TX, the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas TX and the University of Texas at Houston TX. Dr. Salem serves as an Assistant Professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital. His clinical experience encompasses stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, traumatic brain injury, ARDS, airway management, ventilator management, and shock. He has authored several publications, including studies on anticoagulation in cancer patients and the impact of COVID-19 on neurosurgical services.
