- Adam R. Metwalli, MD joins Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and the Sidney Kimmel Medical College Department of Urology in 2023 after nearly 5 years as a Professor and Chief of Urology at Howard University Hospital. Prior to that he was the primary kidney surgeon at the National Cancer Institute for over 7 years. Dr. Metwalli is a urologic oncologist trained in robotic surgery and specializing in cancers of the kidney, prostate, bladder, penis, and testis. Dr. Metwalli has published over 70 research manuscripts and over 15 book chapters. He has been the principal Investigator for clinical trials and for a multi-institutional DOD concept award investigating the genomics of papillary kidney cancer in patients of African descent and a multi-institutional NIH award investigating polygenic risk scores and MRI in prostate cancer.
