- Dr. Leczycki is board certified in general and child and adolescent psychiatry. He received his medical degree from Medical Academy of Gdansk (1991) and started his psychiatric specialty training in Poland. He continued psychiatric training in the USA where he finished General Psychiatry Residency (1994-1998) and Child and Adolescent Fellowship (1998-2000), both at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City. In addition he received training in Geriatric Psychiatry at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI (2000-2001). Dr. Leczycki worked as a general psychiatrist in various clinical settings of rural Michigan and in 2003 came back to New York where he started his long-term engagement with non-profit organizations involved in serving inner city youth and their families. For the past over 20 years Dr. Leczycki has been working as a treating , consulting and supervising psychiatrist and a director of psychiatric services for the mostly underprivileged communities of East Harlem and the South Bronx. Over the years, Dr. Leczycki's clinical focus has shifted from a short term, psychiatric crisis work through a long-term community based psychiatric practice which encompasses collaboration with multiple systems of health care , education, child welfare towards more integrative and and preventive psychiatry focus. Dr. Leczycki has been a teacher, mentor and supervisor to other, non-psychiatric clinicians and trainees in mental health field.
