If you already have a Doximity account, you can set up Doximity Prescribe right away. Open the Doximity app, go to the Dialer tab, and tap the Rx button. This takes you through a quick, one-time setup to confirm your basic information, which is used to reach you if there's ever an issue with a prescription. Once that's done, you're ready to start writing and sending prescriptions.
If you don't yet have a Doximity account, sign up and complete verification first — then you can set up Prescribe the same way.
What is an electronic prescription?
An electronic prescription (eprescription) is a prescription a clinician creates and sends digitally, straight from a mobile device or computer to a pharmacy's system, instead of writing it on paper or calling it in. Eprescriptions typically include the medication, dosage, quantity, and instructions, and they're transmitted through secure networks directly to the pharmacy of the patient's choice.
Can I send a prescription after a telehealth visit?
Yes. Once your Dialer appointment ends, you can tap the Rx button and send the prescription immediately — no need to switch to another app, portal, or system. The visit and the prescription happen in the same place, so patients get their prescription right after the call, and you can move on to your next appointment without extra steps.
Can I send an eprescription while on call or after hours?
Yes. Doximity Prescribe is fully mobile, so you can send a prescription whether you're in clinic, on call, or handling a patient issue after hours.
Does Doximity Prescribe keep a prescription history I can review?
Yes. You can access your prescription history in Doximity Prescribe.
