  • The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences is seeking faculty for a full-time position in the subspecialty of pediatrics and adult strabismus. Appointment rank may be at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level and to either the tenure track clinical (non-tenure) track consistent with clinical experience and research interest and commensurate with experience. The position entails clinical activity at the University of Iowa Health Care university campus and UI Pediatric Specialty Clinic (PSC).

    Education Requirement:

    • Medical doctorate (MD) or equivalent medical degree from an accredited institution.
    • Graduation from a fully accredited ophthalmology residency.
    • Subspecialty training in pediatrics and adult strabismus.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Demonstrated medical and surgical skills in pediatrics and adult strabismus.
    • Demonstrated medical and surgical skills in ROP screening exams and treatment.
    • Demonstrated medical and surgical skills in pediatric cataract.
    • Demonstrated experience with resident and fellow training.
    • Must be eligible to work in the US.
    • Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Iowa.
    • Must be board certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Ophthalmology within 3 years of hire.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Experience in clinical or basic science research.
    • Expertise in diagnostic and treatment of pediatric low vision
    • Expertise in diagnostic and treatment of inherited eye disorders
    • Expertise in diagnostic and treatment of pediatric neuroophthalmological disorders
    • Demonstrated experience working effectively in a welcoming and respectful workplace environment.

    Compensation Details

    $250-295k

    Additional quarterly earned incentives, paid quarterly, ranging from $45,000 to $75,000 per year. Base salary is scaled with experience and clinical professorship level.
