Job Summary:

The Division of Endocrinology & Diabetes within the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) is seeking an academic Pediatric Endocrinologist to assume the role of Division Chief of Endocrinology & Diabetes. This is an opportunity for a full-time Professor or Associate Professor. We seek a servant leader with enthusiasm for the academic medical environment. The Division Chief provides strategic and operational leadership; oversees divisional faculty and staff; spearheads the expansion of clinical, education, and research programs; and guides faculty professional development. A physician-scientist with an active research program is ideal, but strong leadership skills are the most important quality. This is an opportunity to teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows, thereby shaping the next generation of medical professionals. Opportunities exist for clinical research in the candidate's area/s of interest. The candidate will lead dedicated disease-specific research staff and have access to substantial programmatic research funds.

The members of the Division of Endocrinology & Diabetes provide excellent clinical care, education, and research through collaboration and an established interdisciplinary team. Board-certified pediatric endocrinologists, certified diabetes instructors, nurses and nurse practitioners, nutritionists, and physicians in training blend understanding, sensitivity, and concern for each child with state-of-the-art medical care. Children and adolescents with a full spectrum of endocrinology concerns are evaluated and cared for, including type 1 and type 2 diabetes; growth and puberty development issues; obesity and polycystic ovary syndrome; transgender health; thyroid, adrenal, and pituitary gland disorders; and disorders of mineral and carbohydrate metabolism. Division members are involved in robust research programs including clinical, transitional, and basic research in areas related to diabetes, endocrinology, and other metabolic disorders.

Qualifications:

  • Candidate must be an experienced academic physician with demonstrated excellence in research, education, service, and/or clinical care. Must possess a record of scholarly achievements, outstanding leadership skills, professionalism, and ability to develop interdisciplinary, collaborative programs.
  • Completion of an ACGME-approved pediatric residency program is required.
  • Completion of an accredited fellowship program in Pediatric Endocrinology & Diabetes is required.
  • Experience in an academic medical setting preferred.
  • Candidates for Professor or Associate Professor rank must meet criteria for appointment per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment and promotion on the tenure track.

Board certification in Pediatric Endocrinology through the American Board of Pediatrics.
