General Description:
The Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Miami Leonard Miller School of Medicine is seeking a highly qualified plastic surgeon to join our rapidly growing program. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of more than ten plastic surgeons working across three major health systems, including UHealth including the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, Jackson Health System, and Miami VA Health System. Our division boasts a diverse range of clinical services, including aesthetics, breast reconstruction, complex microvascular surgery, lymphatic reconstruction, hand, peripheral nerve, pediatric plastic surgery, cleft and craniosynostosis, trauma, and much more. The faculty are supported by a dedicated team of 5 APRNs, 16 residents, two hand fellows, and a dedicated administrative and clinical staff.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Clinical Care: Provide outstanding clinical care in plastic surgery, encompassing breast reconstruction, microvascular surgery including lymphatic reconstruction. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and serve as a consultant for complex cases.
- Teaching and Mentorship: Take an active role in educating and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows. Develop and deliver didactic lectures, workshops, and hands-on training sessions.
- Research: Engage in scholarly activities, including conducting original research, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting findings at national and international conferences.
- Academic Leadership: Demonstrate leadership within the department and institution, participating in committees and academic initiatives, and contributing to strategic planning efforts.
- Community Engagement: Engage with the local community to raise awareness about plastic surgery and promote health and wellness initiatives.
- Continuing Education: Stay abreast of advancements in plastic surgery through attendance at conferences, workshops, and continuing education courses.
- Collaboration and Networking: Foster collaborative relationships with colleagues within the institution and across other healthcare organizations, seeking opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement and quality assurance initiatives aimed at enhancing patient safety, satisfaction, and outcomes.
- Administrative Duties: Fulfill administrative responsibilities related to academic appointments, hospital credentialing, clinical documentation, and adherence to institutional policies and procedures.
- Professional Development: Pursue opportunities for professional growth and advancement, obtaining additional certifications, and participating in leadership training programs.
- Clinical Responsibilities: Participate in on-call schedules, conduct regular outpatient clinics, coordinate inpatient care and surgeries, and collaborate with hospital personnel to implement clinical effectiveness programs and quality initiatives.
Education Requirements:
- MD or DO
- Board eligibility or certification in plastic surgery (ABPS)
- Valid DEA Registration and Florida Medical License
Work Experience Requirements:
- 0-10 years post-training clinical experience in plastic & reconstructive plastic surgery preferred
