The Department of Surgery, Division of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery and Dentistry has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Professor of Clinical. TheAssistant Professor of Clinical directly reports to the Division Chief, Department of Surgery, University of Miami School of Medicine. The Physician provides patient care by interviewing and treating clinical patients to meet their medical needs. The Physician educates patients on wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials and resources to the patients and families. This role will be responsible for examining, diagnosing, and treating injuries and malformation of teeth and gum. The candidate will also treat nerve, pulp, and other dental tissue diseases affecting oral hygiene and teeth retention. The role will also fit dental appliances and provide preventive care.

Job Functions:

Job responsibilities include participation in clinical and educational activities as they relate to the Division of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery and Dentistry and the Department of Surgery with a special emphasis as follows:
* Promote the mission of UHealth in achieving its role in providing medical education, research, and quality patient care
* Examine teeth, gums, and related tissues using dental instruments, x-rays, or other diagnostic equipment to evaluate dental health, diagnose diseases or abnormalities, and plan appropriate treatments.
* Serve in critical activities for the Department of Surgery as agreed upon with the Division Chief
* This individual is responsible for clinical care in all aspects of dental treatment as well as working collaboratively with the rest of the general dentistry team
* In addition, this position will require supervision of residents
* Documents all services in patient medical records
* Comply to Departmental Policy & Procedures & Hospital Bylaws
* Exercises final medical judgment in all issues of healthcare

Qualifications:

  • Candidates will have an excellent academic record
  • Recognized teaching skills and expertise in residency, fellowship and medical student training is required knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills along with proper bedside manner

Education Requirements:

  • DDS degree
  • Eligible to obtain a Florida Dental License and DEA certificate.
