  • Wake Forest Emergency Providers (WFEP) is excited to offer an opportunity for an experienced Emergency Medicine leader to join our team as a Medical Director within a large, regional, non-profit, academic health system. This role allows you to lead a dynamic Emergency Medicine team, supported by experienced peers, a strong Executive Director, and a collaborative President.

    As Medical Director, you will manage your site’s operations with autonomy while collaborating extensively with leadership and colleagues. You will practice clinically and play a key role in staffing, financial management, performance improvement, and driving quality and safety initiatives.

    About Us: Affiliated with Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist (AHWFB), Wake Forest Emergency Providers is a nationally recognized, 501c3 non-profit, proudly providing health care for all! We staff Hospital Emergency Departments, Free Standing Emergency Departments, and Urgent Cares throughout North Central and Northwest North Carolina.

    Leadership and Strategy:

    • Develop and implement clinical strategies aligning with the organization’s goals and vision for emergency care.
    • Lead, mentor, and support physicians, advanced practice providers, and other clinical staff.
    • Serve as a liaison between clinical teams and administrative leadership to ensure effective communication and coordination.
    • Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and continuous quality improvement.

    Clinical Oversight:

    • Monitor the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of clinical services.
    • Develop and implement protocols, guidelines, and best practices to ensure evidence-based care and improve patient outcomes.
    • Regularly evaluate clinical performance and implement quality improvement initiatives.
    • Address patient safety concerns, adverse events, and operational challenges promptly.

    Regulatory and Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as organizational policies and procedures.
    • Stay updated on healthcare policy changes, accreditation standards, and relevant laws impacting emergency care.
    • Collaborate with the compliance team to prepare for audits and regulatory reviews.

    Operational Management:

    • Manage budgets, staffing, resources, and operational needs within the emergency department.
    • Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, and retention of new providers.
    • Analyze clinical and operational data to optimize workflows and improve patient outcomes.
    • Oversee patient satisfaction initiatives and address patient complaints or concerns promptly.

    Community Engagement:

    • Represent the organization in community outreach programs and at professional events.
    • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders to improve access to emergency care and services.
