Sanger employs more than 110 physicians in a network of more than 25 locations to provide the highest quality care available to patient with cardiovascular disease. Sanger has more than 50 years of experience in providing comprehensive acute and chronic cardiovascular services, including the region's only heart transplant center and congenital cardiac surgery program.
Physician - Cardiovascular Surgeon - Full Time
Qualifications:
- Surgeon must be BC/BE in thoracic surgery and have completed an ACGME approved Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency or equivalent
- Have a current North Carolina Medical License or be eligible for application
- All experience levels including new graduates encouraged to apply
- Experience and expertise in all aspects of adult cardiovascular surgery is preferred. Candidates with interest or advanced training in coronary revascularization, minimally invasive mitral valve surgery, and arrhythmia surgery are preferred.
- Able to support growth of cardiothoracic surgical volumes by providing system-wide access to the highest quality, efficient and affordable care to patients across the regional network
- Possess excellent communication skills and promote a collegial approach to patient care
About the Practice:
- Quaternary referral center with highest acuity practice in the greater Charlotte area performing all aspects of subspecialty care to include complex aortic surgery, our region’s only heart transplant and VAD program, comprehensive multidisciplinary structural heart program, and minimally invasive cardiac surgery
- Robust participation in clinical trials: multiple transcatheter valve device trials, investigational VAD trials, and fenestrated aortic endograft and arch device trials
- Currently there are 10 Cardiovascular Surgeons across our three facilities within Atrium Health with 24/7 in-house coverage by Advanced Practice Providers to support patient care on the units and in the OR
- Great collegiality within the practice and support among other specialists and administration
- Academic professorship at Wake Forest University School of Medicine available; Wake Forest University School of Medicine – Charlotte campus is currently under construction with the first class enrolling for the 2025-26 academic year
- Physician - Cardiologist - Full Time
- The West area for SHVI includes the Lincolnton, Gastonia, and Shelby practices. There are currently 3 general cardiologists and 5 Advanced Practice Providers in Shelby. Opportunity for inpatient coverage (1 in 4 weeks M-F) at Atrium Health – Cleveland with outpatient practice/imaging located in Gastonia.
- Shared regional call rotation for nights and weekends. (approximately 8-9 weekends/year)
- Fully accredited echo lab within both Shelby and Gastonia practices. Multi-disciplinary clinic including vascular and electrophysiology services.
- Inpatient and outpatient service with dedicated reading time
- Great collegiality within the practice and support among other specialists and administration
