Hackensack Meridian Health seeks an exceptional Vice President, Chief Medical Officer (VP, CMO) to lead clinical operations and drive quality improvement at Bayshore Medical Center in Holmdel, New Jersey. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing and directing the daily clinical activities of the medical staff and advanced practice providers. This role will collaborate with dynamic leaders to enhance performance, innovations and patient care excellence. This is an excellent leadership opportunity within our dynamic health network.

Responsibilities: 

  • Support medical staff in governance, credentialing, peer review (OPPE & FPPE), medical education, and quality improvement initiatives. 
  • Develop and maintain medical staff policies, procedures, and bylaws to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Lead the development and execution of HMH’s strategic plan and quality improvement programs, focusing on enhancing clinical excellence, patient care, and medical staff engagement.
  • Serve as the primary link between medical staff, hospital leadership, nursing, and medical school faculty. 
  • Facilitate professional and leadership development for medical staff and ensure strong physician engagement.
  • Oversee regulatory compliance, ensuring readiness for reviews by federal, state, and Joint Commission agencies.
  • Lead hospital emergency management efforts and address conflicts of interest among physicians.
  • Drive clinical redesign, care transitions, and process improvement initiatives. 
  • Advocate for physicians in optimizing electronic medical records and decision support tools to enhance evidence-based care.
  • Oversee medical staff office functions, utilization review, discharge planning, case management, and faculty practices. 
  • Collaborate on budget planning, physician recruitment, and development of clinically integrated networks.

Opportunity Requirements:  

  • M.D. degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the State of New Jersey or another state.
  • Board certified MD in an ABMS-approved specialty.
  • Advanced degree in Informatics and MBA or MPH.
  • Minimum 15 years healthcare experience.
  • Demonstrated accomplishments in Informatics/Decision Support
  • Minimum 8 years progressive and results oriented experience in an Informatics-related role, including leading quality improvement/standardization efforts among MDs.
  • Excellent influencing, communications, and operational management skills to drive results. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
