  • The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Neurosciences is seeking a Ophthalmologist with fellowship-training in Cornea and External Disease and Refractive Surgery to serve as the Division Director for our Cornea Service.

    Opportunity Highlights

    1. Opportunity for a Cornea and External Disease and Refractive Surgery fellow to be hired at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank or an Academic track depending on qualifications.
    2. Faculty have protected academic time for scholarly work in the area of specialty/research experience.
    3. We practice at the University of Minnesota and possibly 1 or 2 affiliated sites in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area – a large metropolitan area with over 3 million people.

    Lions Gift of Sight

    1. Since 1960, Lions Gift of Sight, a partnership between our department, the Lions and the Minnesota Lions Vision Foundation, has been a leading eye bank.
    2. The eye bank provides cornea tissue for transplant, research, and education, restoring sight to over 43,000 people and contributing over 39,000 corneas for research.
    3. It’s a vital contributor to advancing vision science and improving cornea health outcomes.

    1. The Department has over 40 faculty members covering all sub-specialties of ophthalmology including Cornea, Neuro-ophthalmology, Oculoplastics, Vitreoretinal Surgery (Retina), Uveitis, Pediatric Ophthalmology, Glaucoma, Medical Retina, and Optometry.
    2. We enjoy state-of-the-art technology for imaging, laser treatment, and diagnostics. Our highly skilled surgeons bring training from across the country using safe, modern, and effective techniques.
