Job Summary

TidalHealth Peninsula Regional, located in Salisbury, MD, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Cardiothoracic Surgeon to lead our cardiac surgery department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all surgical procedures related to the heart and vascular system, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, and driving innovation in cardiovascular treatments. This leadership role requires a combination of clinical excellence, administrative expertise, and a commitment to advancing the field of cardiac surgery.

Practice Summary

1. High volume team oriented cardiac surgery practice: 80% Cardiac Surgery, 20% General Thoracic
2. 400-500 cardiac cases per year (including TAVR), 100 robotic lobectomies per year
3. Three Surgeons with combined 50 years' experience
4. Team is supported by eight APPs
5. Advanced cardiothoracic and vascular surgical technology with minimally-invasive DaVinci XI Robotic Thoracic procedures, Surgical Treatment of Atrial Fibrillation, Surgeon lead TAVR and Mitra-Clip programs, and many others.
6. Two dedicated cardiothoracic OR rooms supported by dedicated OR team and cardiac anesthesiologists
7. Monday-Friday with 4 OR days (per surgeon) and with typically five to ten cases per week.
8. Two dedicated cardiothoracic operating rooms supported by a dedicated OR team and cardiac trained anesthesiologists.
9. Clinic days with expectations of 12-15 patients per clinic week, including rotations in Multidisciplinary Thoracic Oncology and Heart Valve/TAVR Clinics.
10. Call is every 3rd to 4th night and weekend.
11. Very strong PA support and the PA will be first call
12. Single Hospital practice

Compensation and benefits Summary

1. We offer an excellent salary that is not RVU based, bonus potential.

Qualifications & Requirements

1. MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
2. Board Certification in Cardiothoracic or Cardiovascular Surgery.
3. Minimum 10+ years of experience in cardiac surgery, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
4. Strong background in performing complex and high-risk cardiovascular procedures.
5. Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
6. Commitment to clinical excellence, innovation, and research.
7. Preferred Qualifications
   1. Experience in robotic and minimally invasive cardiac surgery.
   2. Proven ability to develop and manage a high-volume surgical practice

Compensation & Benefits

1. Compensation range for this position: $600,000 - $1,000,000
