Summary
- I am a board certified family physician practicing at Little River Medical Center, a federally qualified community health center in Myrtle Beach, SC. Since 2002, half my practice has involved serving our homeless population through a Health Care for the Homeless grant from the National Institutes of Health. I trained at the Medical University of South Carolina, Class of 1998, and completed my Family Medicine residency at MUSC in June of 2000. I have admitted patients and managed them in the hospital since July of 2000, am currently serving as Chief Medical Office at Little River (November 2014-present), and will be transitioning my practice to geriatrics in the next six months. I have served on boards of organizations focused on underserved populations, including The Community Assistance Center in Myrtle Beach, Helping Hand of Myrtle Beach, and Waccamaw Center for Mental Health, serving Horry, Georgetown and Williamsburg counties. I have served on the Medical Performance Improvement committee at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach for more than 10 years. Prior to going to medical school at age 39, I had a 20-year career as a journalist with The Charlotte Observer in Charlotte, NC, and the Sun Newspapers in suburban Cleveland, OH.
