Summary

  • I am a self-employed sleep neurologist and neuroscientist. My primary work is research consultation via my own LLC, BioPotentials Consult. As an adjunct professor in several universities, I volunteer in research and clinical education on various aspects of neuroendocrinology and sleep brain health. I take locum tenens contracts to maintain clinical skills. I also participate in part-time telehealth practice with AmericanWell Physician Group (AmWell, a nationwide company, 75 State St, Boston MA) to treat patients with sleep disorders who live in the State of Arizona. I handle challenging cases in insomnia (too little or disrupted sleep), hypersomnolence (too much non-refreshing sleep), sleep apnea (particularly trouble adapting to treatment, intolerance to positive airway pressure), and sleep-related movement disorders. In my previous employed careers, I published more than 180 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters, many on cytokine interactions at the blood-brain barrier, and served on editorial boards for a dozen journals. I was a tenured full professor by age 40, and retired before age 50 with an H-index of 45. My training at Tulane and Harvard and a unique skill set as a physician scientist have boosted my ability as an excellent clinician, teacher, manager, and team player.
