Summary
- I lead the School of Clinical and Rehabilitation Sciences (SoCRS) at Northeastern University, a Carnegie R1 research institution. SoCRS is comprised of 3 doctoral programs, 3 masters programs, an undergraduate program, and numerous dual degrees, certificates, and post-professional credentials.
Within the School of Clinical and Rehabilitation Sciences I lead a faculty of >70 full-time faculty, >10 full-time staff, and hundreds of part-time faculty across 3 departments: the Departments of Physical Therapy, Movement, and Rehabilitation Sciences (PTMRS), Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD), and the Department of Medical Sciences (DMS).
My duties as Associate Dean include: leading the School strategic planning process; providing mentorship and leadership to a team of assistant deans, department chairs, and staff leaders; and leading strategic program growth, development, and innovation around the education of future transdisciplinary healthcare leaders and researchers.
My research falls into two general thematic areas: epidemiology, and biomedical education. Within epidemiology, my work focuses on identifying and quantifying the health effects of air pollution, epidemics, and the built environment. Within biomedical education, I regularly publish and present on student and program evaluation, application of quantitative methods in biomedical education research, and disparities in physician assistant education.
I have a long history of graduate-level teaching in human physiology, human anatomy (with and without cadaver lab), and research design. My clinical background includes many years of primary care in underserved communities, as well as occupational medicine, and urgent care
