- Thomas Lundquist, MD, MMM, FAAP, FACPE is President, Vital Insights LLC, a consultant company focused on health plan, health system and practice transformation and innovation to meet the aspirational goals of the quintuple aim. He serves as strategic advisor for multiple innovative companies focused on bringing innovative clinical approaches raising the bar of quality and improved clinical outcomes to patients across the country. His work empowers physicians, care providers, health systems and health plans to increase value and succeed under value-based contracting methodologies across all specialties and lines of business.
Lundquist previously served as Chief Medical Officer for Highmark Inc, as well as Sentara Health Plans for nearly a decade where he helped to lead successful clinically integrated networks operating under value based, total cost of care, contracts with the Health Plans across Commercial, Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, LTSS and Individual (ACA) lines of business. He has served as President of a successful ACO under MSSP, and has led Quality Management and Performance Improvement efforts successfully across primary care practices, specialty practices, hospital settings, large clinically integrated networks and health plans.
Dr Lundquist is passionate about improving patient and provider experience, and about promoting effective and transformational physician, nursing and administrative leadership across all segments of health care. He taught as adjunct professor at the HJ Heinz School of Public Policy and Management for over seven years teaching executive leadership and health care quality to physicians from across the US and Europe earning their MMM at Carnegie Mellon University.
He is a graduate of Penn State University for his Bachelor of Science, a graduate of The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine for his M.D., as well as Carnegie Mellon University for his Masters in Medical Management.
