Summary
- Dr. Koehler specializes in the treatment of complex disorders of the upper extremity. He has particular interests in brachial plexus injuries (birth and traumatic), congenital hand disorders, peripheral nerve surgery, and upper extremity reconstruction utilizing nerve transfers, tendon transfers, and free tissue transfer (microvascular reconstruction). He is a recognized expert in the field of complex upper extremity reconstruction and regularly lectures and teaches nationally and internationally on this topic. He also uniquely specializes in Wide Awake Local Anesthesia No Tourniquet (WALANT) hand surgery in children and adults. He is a recognized international expert on WALANT and has established programs throughout the United States and internationally.
