- Sohail Shah, M.D. is a board-certified Pediatric Surgeon with Pediatrix Surgery of Houston. Dr. Shah has special interests in gastrointestinal surgery, neonatal surgery, congenital anomalies, and the correction of chest wall abnormalities (pectus excavatum and pectus carinatum). His practice includes minimally invasive thoracic and abdominal surgery for pediatric patients of all ages (neonates through adolescents).
Dr. Shah also has a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration and serves as the Division Chief of Pediatric Surgery at The Woman's Hospital of Texas. Additionally, he previously served in numerous other administrative roles, including Chief Surgical Officer at Texas Children's Hospital – West Campus, Surgical Director of Perioperative Services at Texas Children's Hospital, and Surgical Director of Telemedicine and Outreach at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.
Dr. Shah also has a Master of Science in Clinical Research, and his research interests focus on enhancing pediatric surgical outcomes, improving healthcare delivery, and establishing evidence-based practice guidelines. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles, written book chapters, and given dozens of presentations to national and international audiences on a full range of pediatric surgery topics.
Dr. Shah is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP). His other professional memberships include the American Pediatric Surgical Association, Association for Academic Surgery, and International Pediatric Endosurgery Group.
