Summary

  • I am a third generation pediatrician. I specialized into the field of neonatology. Early in my career it became apparent to me that social determinants and health disparities were disproportionately affecting the infants under my care. That led me to work extensively with community, public, government, academic and private organizations whose focus was on maternal and child health, social determinants of health and health disparities. I was awarded a Bush Foundation Medical Fellowship that I used to obtain a MPH in maternal and child health to assist me with my work in these fields. I was also selected to be a University of Minnesota Humphrey Institute Policy Fellow. I have used that experience to be more effective in my work in health policy.
