Dr. Gilbert also served as the Chief, Department of Anesthesiology at Carolina's Medical Center (CMC) from 1991-2012, is Past Medical Staff President, CMC and served as Chair, Medical Executive Committee of the Carolinas HealthCare System Mecklenburg Hospitals.
Appointed by Governor Pat McCrory in 2013, Dr. Gilbert served on the NC Medicaid Reform Group The committee was tasked to assist in the transformation of the NC Medicaid program.
Dr. Gilbert has served the community and taken leadership roles in charitable, community and civic organizations including: Boards of United Way of the Carolinas, Carolinas Partnership, Providence Day School, and as a physician member of the Carolinas HealthCare System Board of Commissioners and Quality Care and Comfort Committee.
