- Dr. Pandit is a Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology and serves as Vice Chair for Ophthalmic Surgery at the Blanton Eye Institute in Houston, TX. He practices at Houston Methodist Eye Associates within Houston Methodist Hospital. He serves as medical director of the Houston Methodist Hospital Ophthalmology Operating Room.
Dr. Pandit grew up in suburban Chicago and received his undergraduate degree at Yale University. After completing medical school at Rush University, he attended one of the top ophthalmology programs in the country, the University of Iowa Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. In 2003, he completed a subspecialty fellowship at the University of Iowa in Cornea, External Diseases, and Refractive Surgery, obtaining advanced training in many types of surgery, including complex cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, LASIK and other forms of refractive surgery. He has been in practice in Houston since 2003.
Dr. Pandit actively participates in teaching at all levels. He is an instructor for courses at international, national, and local meetings on cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, and MIGS or micro-invasive glaucoma surgery.
He is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS), and Cornea Society, and for a decade served as a subcommittee member and content contributor to the AAO’s Ophthalmic News and Education (O.N.E.) Network. Dr. Pandit serves as a principal investigator for clinical research trials, has authored several papers, and lectures locally, nationally, and internationally. He has been recognized as one of the top cataract surgeons in the country by Ocular Surgery News and Premier Surgeon magazine. He has published techniques for cataract and intraocular lens surgery in peer-reviewed medical journals, and has been featured on Houston’s ABC, CBS, and Fox News channels.
