Summary
- I am a board-certified palliative medicine physician, pain medicine specialist and psychiatrist who successfully works as part of the hematology–oncology care teams to provide expert pain and symptom management while attempting to increase cancer survival rates. As the Medical Director of Oncology Support Services, I oversee the integration of psychologists, social workers, dietitians, navigators, and chaplains into a large, comprehensive, community cancer center. My professional life has focused on assisting hematologists and oncologists in decreasing patients’ pain and distressing symptoms and improving quality of life in the people for whom we provide complex, life-saving care. For the past nine years, my palliative care skills have been integrated into the malignant hematology bone marrow transplant service, where I am the dedicated palliative care physician who rounds with the transplant team. My outpatient palliative care service provides palliative care to people receiving care at the Cancer Institute at large. I work within multidisciplinary thoracic, GI, and breast oncology programs. My passion is assisting the treatment team in the clinic to provide expert pain and symptom management for patients and their families.
