Summary
- Dr. Hertzer obtained his undergraduate and medical education (Phi Beta Kappa, Alpha Omega Alpha) at Indiana University before training in surgery and vascular surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. He was appointed to its staff in 1976 and later became Chairman of the Department of Vascular Surgery.
He is the author of over 200 publications, and twice was an Associate Editor of the Journal of Vascular Surgery.
Dr. Hertzer has been the Secretary and President of the Society for Vascular Surgery and the Midwestern Vascular Surgical Society. He has received the Master Clinician, Distinguished Alumnus, and Sones/Favaloro Awards at the Cleveland Clinic, and is a Distinguished Alumnus of Indiana University.
