Summary
- Dr. Faedda is a clinical psychopharmacologist specializing in Mood and Psychotic Disorders.
In 1991 he founded the Lucio Bini Mood Disorders Center of New York, an outpatient clinic specializing in anxiety and mood disorders in adolescents and young adults. Dr. Faedda has investigated the outcome of lithium discontinuation in adults with bipolar disorders, as well as the onset of bipolar disorder in youths, often with psychotic symptom.
He participated in the McLean First Psychosis Study and the characterization and treatment of mixed states. He studied the effects of treatment on the course of bipolar disorders, treatment –refractory depression and dual-diagnosis. He has participated in NIMH-funded research in actigraphy-derived biomarkers for the differential diagnosis of childhood psychiatric disorders, and participated in longitudinal studies on the course and outcome of psychotic disorders in young adults.
As a Principal Investigator in several Clinical Trials testing the safety and efficacy of antidepressants, antipsychotics, as well as novel treatments for Tourette's Syndrome, ADHD and Depression in children and Adolescents.
Dr. Faedda has been involved in defining the psychiatric phenotype of patients with Velo-Cardio-Facial Syndrome, and has authored over 70 peer-reviewed journal articles, several book chapters.
His book, “Parenting a Bipolar Child” with Dr. Nancy B. Austin, was published in 2005. Dr. Faedda received the APA-Dista Award in 1991 and 1992, and co-chaired the International Society for Bipolar Disorder’s Taskforce on: ‘Prodromes of Bipolar Disorders’.
