Gold and Colleagues at Princeton University defined addiction liability of sugar and hedonic overeating . This model has allowed for development of new treatments for overeating based on addiction treatments.ASAM presented Gold with the John P. McGovern " Annual Award on Addiction & Society "... for numerous highly meritorious contributions ". Gold received the PATH Lifetime Achievement Award (2016) in NYC with Obama Drug Czar Botticelli, commending Gold for" Lifetime" pioneering work in MAT, prevention, education and training.
