  • Dr. Maria Luz Lara-Marquez is an allergist and immunologist based between San Diego, CA and Winston-Salem, NC. She completed her second fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at the University of California (San Diego) Medical Center in 2016, following extensive post-doctoral training at prestigious institutions including Harvard Medical School, Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, and Nationwide Children's Hospital. She also holds a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Immunology from The Ohio State University. Dr. Lara-Marquez is currently practicing in a private practice in San Diego. Her clinical expertise encompasses conditions such as Hereditary Angioedema (HAE), Atopic Dermatitis (AD), Urticaria, and Asthma, as well as complementary and integrative medicine. She has published several articles on topics including asthma, HAE, AD, long COVID, and the impact of stress on the immune system. Her earlier achievements include receiving a scholarship from Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho in 1987 and NIH training grant to complete the Psychoneuroimmunology training at The Ohio State University between 1996-1999. Dr Lara-Marquez has worked as adjunct faculty in a major Children's Hospital in Caracas, Venezuela between 2002-2009 and in her private concierge practice of Pediatrics and Allergy and Immunology 2001-2010 in Caracas. Since 2010 is based in the USA. She is a member and a fellow of the AAAAI and was part of the leadership of the Integrative Medicine Committee of the AAAAI between 2019-2025. She also is an active member of the other two committees Autoimmunity & Altered Immune Response and Cells & Mediators of Allergic Inflammation and Primary Immunodeficiencies Committees. She continues in her private Allergy and Immunology practice and is eager to join an academic center to continue her translational research in the areas mentioned above.
