Summary
- I am an Associate Professor in Neurology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Aurora, CO, fellowship trained in Neurovirology. In my clinical practice, I see general neurology patients, as well as those with complications from neurotropic viruses, including varicella zoster virus (VZV) and herpes simplex virus-1/2 (HSV-1, HSV-2). My NIH-funded laboratory focuses on pathological cerebrovascular remodeling due to VZV infection of arteries, manifesting clinically as aneurysms and hemorrhagic/ischemic stroke; characterization of other forms of VZV vasculopathy, including Giant Cell Arteritis and Takayasu's Arteritis, and; the role of HSV-1/2 reactivation in atypical facial pain, burning mouth syndrome, and chronic headaches.
