- Dr. Marc S. Haro is a fellowship-trained board certified, orthopaedic surgeon specializing in all sports-related injuries, in particular complex knee injuries and cartilage restoration. He obtained his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine, graduated from a residency in orthopaedics at the University of Virginia, and completed the prestigious sports medicine fellowship at Rush University in Chicago. Dr. Haro also holds an undergraduate degree in athletic training from Purdue University and a master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Washington University in St. Louis.
Dr. Haro’s “on the field” experience includes working with the Indianapolis Colts, Chicago Bulls, and Chicago White Sox, as well as the athletic departments of Purdue University, University of Virginia, James Madison University, DePaul University and Wabash College. Most recently he served as an Assistant Professor of Orthpaedic Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina where he cared for several local high schools as well as a team physician for the Charleston Riverdogs minor league baseball team. He is the author of numerous journal articles and medical textbook chapters reporting on his findings in basic science and clinical research. Dr. Haro recently served as the Director of Sports Medicine at Mission Hospital as well as the lead team orthopaedist for the UNC Asheville Bulldogs before returning to the low country to join the Southeastern Orthopedic Institute.
