Summary

• Dr. Emmons is President of Medical Systems Management, assisting physician organizations to move into Managed Care. MSM prepares the organization for contract approval in all fields including UM, QM, RM, and credentialing. The firm also assist Health Plans in coordination of projects and staffing of Medical Director positions.
  Dr. Emmons served as Medical Director: for, Anthem Blue Cross, Senior Medical Director for Aetna Life Insurance, and United Healthcare for Southern California. Duties included Network and Medical Management coordinating care between physicians, hospitals, physician groups, patients, and the Health Plans. He was responsible for Quality, Utilization, Grievance and Appeals and development and evaluation of products and management of resources for over 6.5 Million lives in their regions.
  He served as Medical Director of University Affiliates IPA, an organization of 750 physicians Here he assisted in the growth of this multispecialty medical group from 30,000 to over 100,000 lives.
  Trained as a General Surgeon at the Martin Luther King Hospital of Charles Drew University, he was in the private practice of General Surgery before his career as a physician executive.
  Dr. Emmons served as Treasurer of the Golden State Medical Society, and Board member of Charles Drew Medical Society, both of the National Medical Association. He has served as Chairman of the Board of the Burbank Health Care Foundation in its mission to distribute over $150,000 in Grants and Scholarships annually.
  As a member of the Los Angeles Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., serving on the Board and Kappa League Committees. He also volunteers time with the USC Kinder2College program of mentorship of young minority students.
  Dr. Emmons received his undergraduate degree from Howard University, Medical Degree from University of Illinois and MPH from UCLA. He currently holds certification from the American Board of Public Health and Preventive Medicine.
