- Katherine Podraza, MD, PhD is a fellowship trained headache and facial pain specialist and neurologist based in Mystic, CT, and is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. She completed her medical education along with a doctorate at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in 2015, training in Internal Medicine at University of California (Irvine), and later completed her neurology residency and headache medicine fellowship at UCLA. She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of headache and facial pain disorders and uses her extensive training as a physician-scientist and headache neurologist to create unique and state-of-the-art, individualized treatment plans for her patients.
Dr. Podraza has contributed significant research to her field, with publications in Headache, Journal of Cerebral Blood Flow and Metabolism, Cureus, and Neurobiology of Aging and several talks at various national headache conferences. She has a special interest in the interface of visual and headache disorders and has been studying changes in retinal vasculature in migraine for which she was awarded the Frontiers in Headache Research award in 2019 and the Early Career Award by the American Headache Society in 2023.
