Summary
- After 30 years of pediatric practice, including 20 years in academic pediatric emergency medicine, in 2009 I shifted my professional practice to public health and general preventive medicine. My focus was on resident physician training, medical student teaching and mentoring, teaching graduate school courses on health policy and law, as well as injury prevention specialist for the trauma service. I also saw patients in the employee health clinic at UTMB. In August 2013 I retired from the UT System after 22 years of state service with UTMB, UT-Houston, and the University of Houston. Since then, I have engaged in private pediatric urgent care practice, military accession medicine, and medical-legal consulting.
