- Dr. Cantwell has been a psychiatrist for over thirty years and since 2008 working in Fairhope, Daphne, and Mobile Alabama. He is dual Board Certified in Adult, Child, and Adolescent Psychiatry, received his medical degree from the University of Michigan in 1987 and completed his residency training and fellowship at the University of Florida in 1992. Dr. Cantwell has served as full-time medical school faculty at the University of Virginia and at the University of Colorado, and as Medical Director at several psychiatric facilities in Colorado. Dr. Cantwell joined Alabama Psychiatric Services (APS) in 2008, and worked there until 2015, when he joined Comprehensive MedPsych Systems in Fairhope after APS closed. Dr. Cantwell continued serving patients of all ages at his private outpatient psychiatric practice, Cantwell Family Psychiatry, in Fairhope, Alabama, which opened in 2017. He sold his practice to Integrated Behavioral Health in July 2023 and worked at the IBH temporary outpatient office in Fairhope until they opened their permanent office in Daphne in January 2024.
